Top Tips for Offering Catering Services to Kids' Events

Over the past five years, the catering industry in Australia has grown at a modest rate of 0.7% annually. It can be attributed to the increasing demand for catering services from corporate events to kids' birthdays. However, if you primarily offer your catering services to corporate businesses, you should think about adding kids' events to your list of clients. That said, catering to kids' events offers a different proposition. There is a lot to think about from the clean-up to the varying tastes and preferences of children. This article highlights tips on how to successfully cater to kids' events.

Use Disposables

For corporate events, it is a no-brainer that you need to serve the food and beverages with quality utensils since there is a limited chance for damage. However, you cannot use the same principle when catering to kids' events. The reason for this is that children move a lot and will bump into each other and leave plates and cups hanging dangerously on the edges of the tables. Therefore, it is critical that you only use disposable utensils when offering catering services to kids' events. Not only will you help prevent accidents, but you will also keep the clean-up effort to a minimum and eliminate costs arising from broken plates and cups. Disposable utensils also allow the children to enjoy their time without worrying about getting injured.

Use Lidded Cups

As mentioned earlier, children's parties do well with disposable ware. However, you need to go the extra mile with the disposable cups because spills are a real thing in such events. For instance, children like moving their hands about excitedly as they interact with each other and forget they are holding a cup filled with a beverage. It often leads to stained carpets, especially if the children are allowed to play indoors. As such, catering services providers must use lidded disposable cups for any kids' event. Although the lids come off if the cup falls, they go a long way in minimizing minor spills. Consequently, it eliminates annoying mid-party clean-up.

Use the Outdoors

The Australian weather, especially along the coast, makes for favourable outdoor kids' party. Unfortunately, most catering service providers tend to offer their services indoors for one reason or another. For example, some providers argue that preparing and serving food and refreshments indoors is safer since children don't get in the way. However, since food and drink spills are less worrying outdoors than indoors, it is a much better choice to plan your catering services outdoors. Spilled drinks quickly soak into the ground, and food will quickly degrade, thereby making clean-up less urgent.
